I ordered a 2005 545i last week in Florida to be built in Germany. Does anyone know when I can expect the car in Florida? How many weeks on average does the process take from order to factory to built car to shipping back here? A day after I gave the salesman the order, he told me that it was "in the system." I think they can build the car in 1 week...figure 4 weeks to the East Coast for shipping and such.
I'd say earliest is 4 weeks...latest is 6 weeks.

Thanks. Probably more like 8-10 weeks. Called the salesman today and he told me it will be built around July 20th. Sounds like late August for delivery here in Florida. I guess I will just have to wait for my titanium silver, gray comfort-seated tiptronic 545i.

Installing the Porsche transmission will definitely extend the build time.

It looks like they are pretty backed up at the factory with everyone trying to get one of the last 545i's due to BMW's firesale leases on this vehicle.
