Does anyone know if it is possible to hardwire an iPod into a standard E60.
I used a Denison Ice Link with an Audi TT before, worked perfectly. Charged and controlled from head unit.

Hi dublindave,
As it stands right now, you can only connect the iPod through an Auxillary connection that can be dealer installed, but it does not integrate the iPod with the iDrive. I hope this helps!

And Im pretty sure that such an aux. input is not available if you have the navigation system. I use the Monster cable brand fm transmitter until an fully integrated with iDrive solution is available.

I just had the aux input installed (8/04 build with NAV) and it works very well. I keep the iPod in the glove compartment and use Griffen's AirClick (RF remote) to play/stop/forward/reverse the iPod. The remote comes with a strap that attachs to your steering wheel or door handle.
Although you can't select a particular song, you can start/stop/turn on/turn off the iPod all from the remote.
The audio quality is far superior to the Griffen FM transmitter I was using before.

I had the aux input installed in my '05 545i and hardwired the iPod and store it in the center armrest, and use the AirClick remote--works pretty well--not iDrive integration, but still very good--here's a post with my install:
