I've ordered an X3 2.5i, but my friend is looking for a 5 series. He told me ask people's opinions about the 525i's engine. Do you guys think that the car is under powered?

Well, I don't think it is underpowered, but then I have an X5 3.0, and an E46 325. I almost bought an E39 with the last engine, no concerns with the power.
With the new engine in the E60, I think it is fine. I am thinking of the new 530xiT, and would pick the 530T vs the 525T even if the 525T was available, as the wagon plus x-drive could likely use the additional power, but in a sedan, I think the new 525 engine would be fine.
Ultimately, it depends on his preference. Is he used to more power?

I found the 325 with the 2.5 lacking at times, fine most of the time. also would love to hear how the 525 goes.
Drooling at the thought of a 530xi.

Quote: Ultimately, it depends on his preference. Is he used to more power? | Not really. Currently, he has a C240, which is I'm guessing like the 325, and he's happy. He also test drove an '04 325 and liked the power. But on the 5, it has a bigger body with the same engine...that's why I say it might be under powered.
