Here's my problem: I ordered a 545i from my dealer on June 16th which would be built in Germany. I agreed to nice lease terms: .0010 money factor, 59% residual. Very happy with the deal. It looks like the car won't get here until after 60 days from the agreement(after August 16th) since it has been awaiting transport for 10 days now and I know it takes a month to 6 weeks from the time it is put on the ship to reach the dealer. BMWFS allows you to lock in the lease deal for only 60 days. The new July lease deal that just came out on the 545i has the same money factor but the residual is lowered to only 57% which would raise my monthly payment by $31. If my car comes after August 16th, will I be forced into accepting the 57% residual and the $31 more a month instead of the 59% residual that was in force from June 16-August 16th on my deal since the dealer can claim that my original deal is past 60 days(through no fault of my own) and is no longer valid? |

No they cannot change the deal on you...I just picked up my 2006 525i today....and on the documents i read the same thing....but they cannot change the rate on you because you had no effect on the time delivery of the car....plus BMW honors their agreement when deals are made at a certain residual, even though the residual can change from time of order to time of delivery....so no, your BMW dealer should not and most likely will not make you pay 31 more dollars a month

Thanks. That's good to hear. According to "Owner's Circle," it has been close to 2 weeks now that the car is awaiting transport.

Hi hpowders, don't forget that Owners Circle is usually way behind- you'll get a more up-to-date status by asking your SA or calling the 1-800 number and asking for vehicle production status. There is a high probability that your car is already on the boat! Good luck, I know the wait is unbearable!

Hey, thanks very much Me530! I called the 800 number. My vehicle is still at the port awaiting a vessel. I do believe it should be transported this week since it is awaiting transport almost 2 weeks now. I will use the 800 number to keep checking this week. Thanks again for the information!

Secondly, how do you know it's been awaiting transport for 10 days? If you're getting that from the OC website or the 800 number, either could be quite wrong. The only reliable tracking info is that which you can get from the dealer.
