How many of you also have a hardtop for your car? When I bought my car a "snowbird" who happened to be there suggested I get a hardtop to go along with the car. Of course, where I live, it wouldn't get much use, but it did make me wonder how many people actually have hardtops for their convertibles. There are times when I sort of wish I had a hardtop. For example it's been in the 90's everyday since June and I don't put it down when it gets too hot. Also, it might be cool to have one just for a change of apperance. Just wondering |

I never considered one in California....I just want to feel the air blowing through my hair.

Not me, wouldn't use it here in TX.
If I still lived up north I would store the car over the winter so no need for hardtop there either.

Depends on the car. My BMW is great in the winter with the soft top, No need for the hard top at all. OTOH I did get the hard top for my jeep, so I didn't have to scrape frost off the pastic windows, and the jeep is less than air-tight with the soft top on (or off for that matter).

My previous car was an e36 M3 convertible and I was glad to have the hard top in the winter where I am. One year I took the top off in early April just about five days before an ice storm. I had to punch the inside of the soft top to try to break up the inch and a half of ice that was stuck to the roof. Luckily I moved into a house with a garage so I didn't have to deal with the ice this past winter. Anyone driven in really cold temperatures with just the soft top?
