 Alpine White or Orient Blue?

I just put my order in for a 2006 530xi, white over grey with anthracite wood, fully, fully, fully loaded. Originally, I was set on the Orient blue. It really is a beautiful color, but for some odd reason, it just doesn't do it for me on this particular car. White is gorgeous, but every car I've owned has been white (not that I regret it). I figured I'd try a new color. ALso, I'm a detailing freak, but I know that dark blue is harder than black to maintain. Should I change my order to Orient Blue, or leave it white? Any and all help/feedback is GREATLY appreciated.

as we all know colors are so individual. there is no accounting for taste. if it of any help to you at all--all cars i have owned have been some variation of silver/grey. i keep saying i want to try something new, but when push comes to shove i keep coming back to those types of colors. this time i am branching out somewhat by getting titanium grey. i dont think you should "make" yourself get a different color just because you think you should. if you love white, which it sounds like you do. get white! i am surprised to hear you say that orient blue is more difficult to maintain that black. that is hard to believe. definetly get the color you feel most comfortable with. what a drag it would be to have a car where the color choice bothered you.

Wow...that's like trying to pick between Ginger and Maryanne.

Personally, I think BMWs look good in blues, whites, and the lighter shades. Black just doesn't work for me. Mercedes has the best looking black cars.

Funny you should ask. I generally love white on BMWs. It's the color of sport (the Ring Taxi is white). White with grey is an especially nice combo, as is white with black. Avoid Sand -- it's too hoo hum.

I have Orient Blue on my E39 (as you see from my sig), but it's too dark and too conservative. White for me next time.

WHAT'S NOT TO LIKE ABOUT THIS? Like you, at first I ordered a 2006 530xi in metallic blue but changed to Alpine white (non-metallic) because it looks so, well, pretty. Went for the tan interior (have same color combo on my wife's '99 E320 and I like it). It's all a matter of personal preference but when they're clean they do look exceptionally fine.

Also, it's nice to watch the car move in "order tracking" from "on order" to "scheduled for production" and so on. The car was built the day my dealer told me it would be (June 3) and it took one day to move to "awaiting transport". Expecting it around July 4. Can't wait.
