anyone know why the residual is so lousy on the 530 xit? 31% for 60 months versus 34% for the sedan.....

maybe i should have leased the damn thing after all.....

Don't confuse the residual value of a lease offer with what the car will actually be worth 36 months into the future.

It sounds like you recently purchased one, and now you see that value and it's like someone saying to you, "you didnt marry that ugly girl from high school did you?" soon after coming home from the honeymoon.

Ignore that number, my friend! Get out and enjoy your new car!!

Its often an issue of supply and demand as well. If they are trying to move some cars they will improve the residuals so the lease rates drop. If a car is in high demand, they'll use a more conservative residual which improves their chance of breaking even on the lease vs. losing money at resale time.
