 AC very inconsistent

A couple weeks ago, all of a sudden, the AC started working improperly in the AUTO mode. Basically, it works fine on the freeway, when cruising. As soon as i stop or when i am driving slowly in traffice the AC starts blowing very intermittently. The air blows hard sometimes and then slows down and then blows harder again. The difference is drastic and sudden, and it never did this before.

I researched the messages here and looks like this is caused by a faulty resistor. My car is still under warranty. Before i take it in to check it out, wanted to check if anybody has had similar problems and if the part is covered under warranty.

P.S: I have a 2001 330i

search for "final Stage Resistor" it is covered by the new car warranty, CPO?

Its common enough

Yep, sounds like the "Final Stage Resistor". IIRC it's about an $80 part and takes a few (tight-working) hours to replace. Definitely a worthwhile use of warranty coverage if you've got it.

Thank you for the information.

As a matter of fact after the post that evening i was pulling into a parking lot and started to see smoke coming from the front side of the dash on the passengers side.
Took it into the dealer the next day and lo and behold it was the FSR. The car was under warranty and i got that fixed along with the broken clip on the Sunroof cover.
