I watched a guy do them on my 911 and he said the hardest part of the whole deal is making sure everything is taped off really good before you start.

It is very easy. If you get a brush on application, you almost don't need to mask. I would suggest that you would have a better finished product if you remove the calipers from the hub before painting (while leaving brake lines connected).

It's easy. Do it in a well-ventilated area (brake cleaner is nasty).
-Jack up car. Put on stands.
-Remove wheels.
-Clean the calipers. First use a wire brush to remove what you can from the calipers. Then use brake cleaner and a wire brush to get them cleaner, then a rag and brake cleaner to get them very clean (put newspaper down; you're going to get a lot of nastly black runoff). It helps to have a wire brush attachment on a drill - that works very well. Don't get it anywhere near the brake lines!
-Mask off the rubber bits and non-caliper bits. Plastic wrap and masking tape work well.
-Mix up the paint in Dixie cups, a little at a time. It hardens fast, and you want to do all of the brakes. Paint one thin coat on all calipers. Let it dry. Repeat; do at least three coats.
-Let it set for 2 hours.
-If you have to drive home, drive home and let it dry overnight. If you're at home, just let it dry overnight.

I know this is a newbie question..but better safe then in a ditch
I need some help. But my ego requires I try to prove I am not a total monkey in the garage area....maybe a chimp, but no damn gorilla I tell you.......
I have hydraulic brakes on my shifters. the brakes are actually awesome.....cross drilled and vented discs with large multi puc calipers front and rear. I can flush , drain, remove master cylinders with no problem.
When it comes to the BMW- is it the same thing? I want to paint the calipers and would love to pull off the calipers,,,,,,but how do I refill the system? Same way? Open a line, fill reservoir and wait till I see it come out of caliper..move to next?.
