Hello,
I got an email (perhaps a junk one) from http://www.icarfinder.com/ saying that you can bid some high-end expensive cars starting with a few thousands. And those cars come from government auction. I have no idea how the government got these cars.
Does anyone have experience buying cars through these auctions ? Any thoughts ?
Thanks.

Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it? What is that old saying? Say it with me now...

The government does get alot of cars. Most are drug seizures under various statutes that allow the government to seize your car if you are convicted of a drug-related (I think it must be a distrubution offense). I'm sure the IRS ends up with a few cars too.

la ur right. the government auctions off cars that are seized as part of investigation into criminal activity. many are drug related cases that have gone through the appeals process for a number of years if the case haven't settled yet. i use to be an intern with the ag's office in pa and it was a blast working there. u'd be amazed how many cars are confiscated in their impound lot throughout the state. i even had the chance to drive a few myself. i think that is all i can say for now since i signed a secrecy of oath to the state...

My friend from school got a 2001 BMW 330Ci coupe real cheap becuase it was from a government auction, the car used to belong to a drug dealer. He always referred to it as "the drug dealer's car".
