Just out of curiousity, how many in here use fuel injector cleaner? I asked my SA on what type of cleaner to use, and pretty much said that it's not required on BMW's.  Since the car turned four years old, I'm sure it will need some type of cleaner. Any thoughts or recommendations on what brand to use? Thanks, Dan |

I use Techron once a year and stick to name brand (Shell) premuim gas year round.

Not really needed if you use an approved BMW gas. Such list does exist. It is call Top Tier Gas. This is the current list.

If you use a good quality gasoline such as Chevron, the fuel injector cleaner is unecessary expense. Chevron has Techron additive.

I use a bottle of Techron at each oil change. Under $5 and they often have a mail in rebate.
Techron is the only fuel additive that I am aware of that manufacturers recommend to clean fuel system.
Chevron developed Techron.

| I agree. BMW's used to be known for problems with dirty fuel injectors and recommended Chevron Premium as the only gas that would keep the fuel injectors problem free due to the Techron in the gas. When I went to pick up a previous car, the salesman took a drive with me to show me how everything worked and had me stop into a Chevron station where he filled up my car and made a big point of this, telling me if I used any other kind of gas I should use the Techron additive or I might have problems. Now any Top Tier gas is OK without needing the additive and BMW no longer exclusively recommends Chevron. Personally, I stick to Shell or Chevron. I'm surprised Mobile isn't on the Top Tier list though.
