Please excuse the lameness of this question. I just want to make sure I have this correct.
You can CHIP a car...add an after market actual chip to your car's computer to make it better.
or
You can load SOFTWARE to your car's computer to make it better.
Is this true? Are they different or are they the same thing? Which one is better? Will one void the warranty when the other will not?
My shop was going to give me a great deal on SOFTWARE for my car...but I read about people putting CHIPS in their cars too...so I just want to understand it correctly so I can make a good/smart decision.
TIA

Basically the same thing....
in the older cars what was commonly involved was pulling and replacing an actual chip...
many modern cars are all programmable now... hence... software... your car would be software...
a lot of people still say "chipped" anyway out of habit I guess
