My friend, auto mechanic, clumsily (srry, sp?) got grease on the sand colored plastic on my 740 and on the sand beige colored carpet! What is the best way to get rid of it without damaging the plastic/carpet?

Wipe as much as you can off with a clean cloth.
Then, try a "friendly" cleaner (that won't ruin plastic/carpet) like Simple Green on a clean rag to wipe the remaining residue off.
